Earlier today, we told you about a bunch of popular apps going free, many of them for the first time ever, ahead of the App Store’s five year anniversary. Apple’s promotion for the 5 year anniversary has now gone live, and includes the aforementioned apps that have gone free and a detailed timeline of the major milestones of the App Store.
Here’s what the promotion says:
From the 500 apps available at launch in 2008 to the more than 900,000 at your fingertips today, it’s been remarkably prolific five years for the App Store.
And here’s the list of apps:

- Where’s My Water? ($3.99 to free)
- Tiny Wings ($0.99 to free)
- Tiny Wings HD ($2.99 to free)
- Badland ($3.99 to free)
- Traktor DJ ($19.99 to free)
- Traktor DJ for iPhone ($4.99 to free)
- Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP ($4.99 to free)
- Day One ($4.99 to free)
- Over ($1.99 to free)
- Barefoot World Atlas ($4.99 to free)
- Map My Ride+ ($3.99 to free)
- How to Cook Everything ($9.99 to free)
The company had earlier sent out posters celebrating 5 years of the App Store to select members of the press.
