Moto G in the UK reportedly receiving update to Android 4.4.4 KitKat, new features included

Motorola Moto G
While the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update hasn’t always meant a ton of new features for many devices out there in the market, at least the ones lucky enough to get the update so far, when it comes to Motorola-branded handsets, this particular upgrade is certainly worthwhile. For Moto G owners in the United Kingdom, it looks like today could be your lucky day.
Scattered reports from subscribers under the Vodafone umbrella in the UK have confirmed that Android 4.4.4 KitKat is being sent out to devices on the network. Motorola has been quick with this particular update for their devices, as the company recently sent out the same update to not only the Moto G in India, but also the Moto E and Moto X.
The Moto G update for the UK shares many of the new features we saw in other international devices getting the software upgrade. Specifically, Moto G owners will find an updated phone dialer when they get around to making a call. You’ll also get a chance to pause your video recordings, and start recording again after the update lands on your phone.
One of the biggest parts of the update, though, is Motorola Alert. After your device is updated, you’ll need to find the app in the Google Play Store. Once downloaded, it can be used to notify friends and family where your phone is once the alert is activated, by sending out periodic location-based alerts to those pre-confirmed contacts.
It looks like the update is now just being issued to Vodafone subscribers, and the roll out could take up to a week (or longer), to reach all the Moto G handsets out there. But it’s believed that the update could roll out to other Moto G handsets soon.
Has your device been updated to Android 4.4.4 KitKat?
