HTC unveils the waterproof J Butterfly for KDDI in Japan

HTC J Butterfly for KDDI
HTC and KDDI have just announced their latest entrant to the Taiwanese maker’s Butterfly family — the J Butterfly. The handset is an amalgamation of the One M8, the previous Butterfly handsets and the One E8.
While the design of the J Butterfly resembles that of the One M8, it has a plastic unibody construction like the E8 and is also carries an IPX7 rating signifying its water and dust proof design. Other specs of the J Butterfly include a 5-inch 1080p S-LCD3 display, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth and a 2700mAh battery.
On the carrier connectivity side, the J Butterfly comes with LTE carrier aggregation for a maximum download speed of up to 150Mbps and WiMax 2+. Interestingly, the J Butterfly has a Duo camera setup at its rear with a slight twist: Instead of a primary 4MP ‘UltraPixel’ camera, HTC has gone with a 13MP sensor found on the One E8. The secondary ‘depth’ sensor remains the same at 2MP.
All the other features that we have seen on the One M8 like Motion Launch, front-facing BoomSound speakers and BlinkFeed are also present on the J Butterfly. The handset will be available in three colors — Rogue, Canvas and Indigo — in late-August on KDDI’s network. The J Butterfly will also be compatible with HTC’s unique Dot View case.
