Apple is widely expected to unveil the next generation iPhone, which will most likely be called iPhone 5 at the media event on September 12.
It is widely speculated that Apple will start taking pre-orders for the new iPhone soon after the announcement and will launch it nine days later on September 21.
Here's more evidence that Apple is planning to launch iPhone 5 on September 21. MacRumors
reports that they've received information from their sources that Fedex
- Apple's primary shipping partner for U.S. orders, is planning for a
"surge volume" event during the period of September 21-24.
MacRumors has
received word that FedEx is making preparations for a "surge volume"
event during the period of September 21-24, coinciding with rumors of an
iPhone launch in the United States and several other countries on
Friday, September 21. While neither Apple nor the iPhone 5 has been
specifically mentioned as the source of the surge for FedEx.
MacRumors reports that FedEx is limiting employee travel and training around this period.
AT&T and Verizon are also having all-staff vacation blackouts from September 21 - 30, which seems to strongly indicate that the release date for iPhone 5 will be September 21.
