Walmart has also dropped the price of iPhone 4S. Walmart has cut the price of the 16GB iPhone 4S to $148 from $198 with a two-year contract with AT&T, Verizon or Sprint.
Walmart joins Sprint, Best Buy, Target
and Radio Shack in dropping the price of the 5th generation iPhone,
which is another sign that Apple's new iPhone is round the corner.
Target and Radio Shack were the first to drop the price of iPhone 4S back in May, followed by Best Buy in July.
We then had Sprint dropping the price of iPhone 4S to $149.99 earlier in the month and also waiving the activation fee with a two-year contract.
According to rumors, Apple retail stores have also been given authorization to price match the $50 discount on iPhone 4S offered by Sprint and retailers like Best Buy.
It's not clear if the $50 discount is available on the 32GB and 64GB models.
If you're planning to buy an iPhone, it
makes sense to wait for the new iPhone to be launched as Apple is widely
expected to offer iPhone 4S for $99 and iPhone 4 for free with a two-year contract. It remains to be seen if Apple will continue to sell iPhone 3GS or it will discontinue the model that was launched in 2009.
Apple is widely expected to unveil ‘iPhone 5′ at a special event on September 12 and will also start taking pre-orders on the same day, followed by the release on September 21.
