Unfortunately, none of the enhancements
made it to iOS 6's feature list. But we have some good news, iOS
jailbreak developer John Coates has teamed up with Joost to release a
new jailbreak tweak called MissionBoard on Cydia that brings the popular app switcher concept to life.
Here's how the app switcher worked in Joost's concept:
Swiping up at
the bottom of screen displays thumbnails of apps (rather than logos)
running in the background with their current state. You can scroll
vertically through all the apps running in the background.
If you don't have Zephyr installed then you can set the Activator action to invoke MissionBoard by swiping at the bottom of the screen.
One of the things that we really liked
in the concept was the ability to access to all the open tabs in Safari
(which are arranged as stacks). Unfortunately, that hasn't been
implemented in the jailbreak tweak as of now.
You can checkout the jailbreak tweak in action below:
The jailbreak tweak works exactly as
Joost had conceptualized and looks quite neat. But it may not replace
the iOS app switcher as you don't have access to music controls.
The best part is that MissionBoard is
available for free on Cydia, so download it and let us know if you will
replace iOS app switcher with MissionBoard.
